THE VOICE™ ¿NECESIDAD DE FRESCAS TRADUCCIONES BIBLICAS?

Durante los últimos años se ha hecho muy popular el sacar nuevas versiones que expresen mejor, o que sean más literales o que se adapten mejor al contexto idiomático del tiempo en que vivimos; pero, ¿necesitamos otra traducción de la BIblia? Es la pregunta que me hago cada vez que veo que sale o que se está trabajando en una nueva traducción de la Biblia o algún libro de ésta. Por eso me llamó la atención The Voice™, una nueva versión de diferentes libros de la Biblia hecha por Thomas Nelson y Ecclesia Bible Society, y que dice recuperar la frescura de la voz de quienes lo escribieron. The Voice representa una colaboración de historiadores, poetas, oradores y cantautores que provee una verdadera interpretación (dice Thomas Nelson) de el texto tradicional de la Biblia mientras incluyen una expansión cultural e histórica de la historia.

Sinceramente tenía otras expectativas cuando inicié leyendo THE VOICE™ PSALMS, y debo admitir que la forma en que tradujeron el libro de los Salmos no me pareció novedosa. Ahora, a lo que si le doy 10 puntos en esta nueva versión es a las lecturas devocionales y lo comentarios selectos a algunas partes del libro de Salmos. Creo que dan en el punto, son perfectos en complementar las lecturas de los Salmos, y le dan amplitud. Mi consejo es que si vas a comprar este libro, más que lo que pueda aportarte como versión de la Biblia, es perfecto como lectura devocional, lectura y conversación en grupos pequeños, y para tiempos de meditación.

During the last few years it's been a very popular practice to publish new Bible versions that express better, that are more literal, or that adapt to our linguistic context better. However, do we really need another Bible translation? This is the question I ask every time I see a new version in the works, whether for the whole Bible or for a few of it's books. My attention was recently caugght by The Voice™, a new version of several books from the Bible by Thomas Nelson and Ecclesia Bible Society, which claims to restore the freshness of the original writers. The Voice™ represents a collaboration of historians, poets, storytellers and songwriters which provides a true interpretation (Thomas Nelson' says) of the traditional Bible text while including historical and cultural expansions of the story.

I honestly had different expectations when I began reading THE VOICE™ PSALMS, and I must admit that the way in which they translated the book of Psalms did not seem novel. Having said that, I do give them 10 stars for the devotional readings and commentary to some portions of the text. I believe they're on point, are perfect to complement a study of the book of Psalms, and help expand on them. My advice would be that if one is to purchase this book, to consider it as something other than another Bible version, but rather a perfect collection of devotional readings, both for lectures and small group dialogs, and ultimately for times of meditation.
